Several Sides of Smooshy

This is Cartoon Craziness Week 4! Again, thanks to the hosts for coming up with such a fun challenge! 🙂 The theme this week is Kids and Pets.

I loved the theme this week. It gave me an excuse to draw cartoons of my cat and babble on about her! Haha. My kid/pet is a Silver Persian named Ewok. She is more affectionately known as “Smooshy” because of her flat little face. She’s four years old is a complete quirky joy. So here are several sides of smooshy….

many sides of Ewok

Sitting Staring Smooshy. I always wonder what is going through her little kitty head when she sits there staring at me. She always does this at bedtime. She sits and stares at me lying in bed for a while before she jumps up and lies on my face.

Stumped Smooshy. She loves to scamper after her ball, but when it stops she stops, stands beside it and looks at me like “mommy, why’d it stop?!” My mom’s cat, Ruby, plays fetch…she thinks she’s a dog. It’s a lot of fun though. Alas, Ewok is not getting the fetch concept.

Shoulder Smooshy. When Hubby picks her up for a cuddle, she peers over his shoulder all sleepy-eyed while he strokes/scratches her.

Semi-psycho Smooshy. This is what she does when she’s a little riled up and trying to attack something. She gets down low in front with her butt up in the air and wiggles it. Eventually she decides to pounce, often missing her target. She’s a clumsy little kitty.

Psycho-Smoosh. This is Ewok full of energy darting around the apart like a bat out of hell. She’s leaping over chairs, skidding across the floor and making funny chirping sounds. It usually ends with her overshooting her jump onto the CD stand or crashing into something. Good thing her face can’t get any flatter!

Sustenance Smooshy. When we are eating at the table, Ewok sits beside one of us on the floor and gently reaches up to tap her slipper paw on someone’s thigh. I imagine she’s saying “Hello. I’m here. I’m cute. Feed me.” She usually gets a treat as long as she doesn’t use claws when she taps.

Spiral Smooshy. When relaxing, she contorts herself into all sorts of crazy positions. I can’t imagine how they could be comfortable, but she seems to be perfectly happy. My favourite one is when she twists to expose her little pink belly…lol. I wonder if she knows she’s pink underneath all that fluff.

Scurrying Smooshy. This is what she looks like on the balcony. Ewok hates having the wind blow her fur! Whenever a gust of wind blows, she runs for shelter with her belly almost rubbing the ground, lol. It’s funny to see.

And here is the real Smooshy, just for fun!

Self-esteem Challenge: Day 19

This blog challenge was developed by betterthandarkchocolate.tumblr.com. If you missed the introduction or want to see a summary of all the questions, go here.

Day 19:
Is there a particular outfit/article of clothing/accessory you like on yourself? Why or why not?
Do you have an activity that makes you feel alive and good within yourself?

There is definitely some repetition going on here. I already talked about how new clothes make me feel good and I posted a pic of the shirt I currently like, so I’m going to try to come up with something different here. I like when I get a chance to wear my Steampunk jewelry. What is Steampunk? It’s basically Victorian science fiction. It’s a combination of the classy and frilly from the Victorian era with the mechanical, bad ass, futuristic cyborg type stuff. I like wearing this stuff because it’s unique. Since I’m shy, starting small talk is often difficult and anxiety-provoking. When at conferences I try to wear something steampunk because it’s a conversation starter. Someone always asks about it and once I get talking, I focus on the conversation and I’m ok.

As for an activity that makes me feel good…..I’m not sure. Hiking maybe? There are aspects I don’t like about it….like the bugs, bug spray, sunscreen, sweat and lack of bathrooms, but I’m outside and it’s good exercise. Getting exercise makes me feel good because I know I am doing something good for myself. The problem is, most exercise is torture, or just feels like a real chore. Hiking is neither. It’s nice to be outside, away from the city and crowds of people. It also brings back good memories. The hiking I’ve done has usually been while I’m on vacation, so times of less stress. Also, Hubby and I got engaged on a hiking trip. This is the card Hubby gave me on our hiking trip. I thought it was cute, he really REALLY likes french fries.

Self-Esteem Challenge: Day 18

Day 18:
The last thing you did that made you laugh.
Do you like the way you talk if so why? If not how can you view it more positively?

Why is it so hard to remember the last time you really genuinely laughed? I can’t remember. I can guess, but I don’t remember the circumstances. I probably laughed really hard because hubby got himself worked up into a state laughing so hard about something ridiculous that he was doubled over in tears about it. Seeing him like that makes me laugh. The something ridiculous usually entails bathroom humor of some sort or a really lame joke he made himself.

I’m neutral about the way I talk. There is nothing that makes my voice or the way I speak stand out. I don’t have any quirks that people can imitate or anything. I don’t talk a lot. I guess I like that. I choose my words carefully and make sure they are worth saying.

On another note. I haven’t slept properly in about a week and whenever I do sleep, I dream my teeth are falling out. I’m so thankful my vacation starts this week.

Self-esteem Challenge: Day 17

Day 17:
Another thing you like about yourself.
What do you do to feel calmer when you’re stressed?

Another thing I like about myself?! Umm…..I don’t know, I think I’ve covered it all already. Let’s see….my ears? I am thankful I have healthy ears….*knocks on wood*. I’ve never had an ear infection or any ear pain. Sure, I’ve gotten water logged, but it was never that bad. I have my ears pierced (one hole each) and I’ve never had trouble with that. My ears are tiny too. I feel a bit like a fairy tale character when people exclaim “My, what small ears you have!”. I know a lot of people who are self-conscious about their ears for some reason or another, or people who constantly get ear infections, have to wear plugs to swim or have had to have surgery for something. I like my ears because they don’t give me something else to stress about. So thank you ears for behaving yourselves.

I eat cake and watch a movie to calm myself down. The movie depends on the level of stress I’m feeling. A low stress level requires a feel-good movie. One of those movies I’ve watched a million times. Sometimes I draw with my cake and feel-good movie. If it’s really high stress, I have to watch a movie I haven’t seen before. If I haven’t seen it, I’m more likely to get immersed in it and shut my brain off. Turning my brain off for a little while is the only way I can cope with stress. Most of the time, things are a little clearer when I turn my brain back on. I just have to hope the movie is good enough to distract me.

self esteem challenge day 16

Day 16:
The last thing you did that made you smile.
Do you have make up, clothing or an accessory that makes you feel positive about yourself? If so what is it and why?

The last thing that made me smile was so silly. It was getting out of bed the other day. I couldn’t help but smile because it hurt so much! My muscles are so sore from doing this Insanity workout!! After lying down and not moving all night, my muscles are at their sorest and getting upright is difficult. It’s still a good worked-out kind of sore, but watching me trying to hobble around first thing in the morning is kind of funny. I think my calves are the worst. It’s like the muscle has contracted from exercising and now it’s too short. I keep thinking the muscles are actually going to rip in half when I walk. Even rolling over to hang my feet off the side of the bed was hard. My core muscles are pretty sore as well. I’m making it sound worse than it is. Really, it’s just funny.

I have a shirt that makes me feel pretty decent. I actually ended up buying three of them in different patterns, haha! The patterns are great because they distract from any flaws. The top has a V-neck which makes me look taller and it wraps around the waist which makes my waist look smaller. I don’t feel like I need to wear a big sweater over it to hide under.
